Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiqur Rahim ( Bengali: 9 May 1987 ) is Bangladesh's former skipper and vice-captain. He plays as the left-handed middle-order batsman for Bangladesh cricket teams. Mushfiqur's first international appearance came against England when he grew into 16. He played as a specialist batsman in his first match in cricket history. He became the youngest player to play cricket at the Lord's Cricket Ground. He made consistent contributions to the order with bat and has been competent in the position of the keeper on Bangladesh's Spindominated Attack.

Mushfiqur Rahim is a professional cricketer from Bangladesh, born on June 9, 1987, in Bogra, Bangladesh. He is a right-handed working class batsman and wicketkeeper. Mushfiqur is considered one of the best batsmen and captains in Bangladesh cricket history.

Early life and family:

Mushfiqur was born into a cricket-loving family. His father, Mahbub Habib, was a cricketer and a coach. He introduced Mushfiqur to cricket at an early age. His mother, Rahima Khatun, is a homemaker. Mushfiqur has two siblings, a brother, and a sister.

Early career:

Mushfiqur started his cricket career as a wicket-keeper-batsman for the under-19 team Bangladesh. He made his first-class entrance to Rajshahi Division in 2004. In 2005, he was selected to play for the Bangladesh A team and soon after that, he was selected for the national team.

International career:

Mushfiqur made his debut for the Bangladesh national team in 2005, in an ODI against Zimbabwe. He scored his first international century in 2009 against Zimbabwe in a Test match. He also holds the record for the highest individual score by a Bangladesh player in Test cricket, with 219 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018.

Mushfiqur Rahim has scored 8 Test centuries and 7 ODI centuries as of September 2021. His highest score in Tests is 219, while his highest score in ODIs is 144.

National captain (2011-2018):

Mushfiqur was appointed as the captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team in 2011. Under his leadership, Bangladesh won its first-ever Test match against England in 2016. He also led Bangladesh to the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup and the semi-finals of the 2017 Champions Trophy. He stepped down as the captain in 2018 after Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies.
